Jockey Club Repsonse to OFT Report
Published: 8 April 2003
In response to the Office of Fair Trading鈥檚 preliminary findings from its investigation into British horseracing, Christopher Spence, Senior Steward of the Jockey Club, said:
鈥淎s widely anticipated, the OFT have raised a number of key issues for racing to consider and address. We shall work closely with the BHB to help develop a robust response. Our chief concern will be to ensure as far as possible, whatever the outcome, that public confidence in the integrity of racing is maintained.
鈥淭he BHB has a key role to play in balancing the interests of all racing鈥檚 interested parties and overseeing a sport which has increasing support from the public.
鈥淲e are pleased to note that none of the Jockey Club鈥檚 Rules of Racing appear to infringe the Competition Act.鈥
