Equine Herpes Virus clearance testing completed

º£½Ç´óÉñ can confirm that as of Tuesday 5 July 2022 clearance testing has been completed at the yard of Dr Richard Newland, with all horses confirmed as free from Equine Herpes Virus (EHV).

The heightened biosecurity arrangements in place to limit any spread of the virus have therefore been lifted with immediate effect, and all horses can now resume racing.

We wish to reiterate our thanks to Dr Newland and his team for their prompt action and careful management of the outbreak, and colleagues at Equine Infectious Disease Surveillance (EIDS) at the University of Cambridge for their support and expertise.

EHV is a common virus, and trainers, breeders and veterinary surgeons are therefore encouraged to be alert to the . Any instance of EHV should be investigated immediately and reported as a communicable disease under the .
