Commenting on the Judgment handed down today in the At The Races v British Horseracing Board case, BHB Chief Executive Greg Nichols said:
鈥淲e are extremely disappointed and surprised by the Judgment.
鈥淲e nevertheless note that Justice Etherton has explicitly said that, irrespective of any intellectual property, database or other rights, 鈥淏HB has, in the data, a valuable commodity for which it is entitled to charge鈥.
鈥淓qually, the Judgment concerns only the price charged by BHB to broadcasters such as ATR supplying data to non-Irish overseas bookmakers.
鈥淭here are a number of other aspects of the Judgment which will require full consideration, and therefore no premature conclusions should be drawn.鈥
